The first required step is to install the CMS Commander plugin on your website. This free plugin handles all the communication between your site and your CMS Commander account.
You can download the plugin on the cmscommander.com website. Click on “Documentation” in the menu, then on the “Installing the CMS Commander Plugin and Adding Your Sites” article.
Here you can find the download link – Click it and save the plugin file on your computer.
Next, go to the WordPress admin area of the website you want to add to CMS Commander.
Once there move your mouse over “Plugins” in the main menu and then press “Add New” from the submenu.
On the next page click the “Upload” link.
In the form you have to select the plugin file which you just downloaded to your computer.
Afterwards press “Install Now”.
Depending on your server you might be prompted to enter your FTP username and password. You should have received those information from your webhost and can enter them in the form to proceed.
Once the installation is finished click the “Activate” link.
If everything worked you will now see this message at the top asking you to immediately add the site to your CMS Commander account.
To do that log into said account on cmscommander.com…
and navigate to the “Your Sites” page.
Here you need to enter the full address of the site you just installed the plugin on into the form.
And then the username of the site administrator. In WordPress this is simply “admin” by default.
If you want to you can also add your site to any group of your choice, which can be helpful if you have a large number of websites. Entering a new group name automatically creates that group if it does not exist yet.
Pressing “Add Site” completes the setup and you can now remotely manage this weblog through CMS Commander.
